I ended up having to send my laptop in to IBM for this issue. When I got it back, everything worked just fine in XP. I haven’t tried putting Ubuntu on it again though.

Thinkpad T60 Battery Hello, I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T60. I wanted to dual-boot Windows XP and Ubuntu Edgy, so I created an Edgy CD and installed it. All seemed to go well, and I was up and running with a dual boot setup easily, which was awesome. I started setting everything up and was pleased to find that after I downloaded all the necessary packages, my wireless worked automatically, which is a far cry from my last foray into linux land with Dapper on my desktop (Ndiswrapper, etc.)After the first day of playing with Ubuntu, I plugged it in to charge the battery (9 cell Lenovo battery) and when I checked it later, the battery level hadn’t budged. That seemed odd so I logged into my windows partition and tried to get it to charge there. It didn’t work. I tried to charge it overnight with the laptop completely off. This also didn’t work. At this point, I’m feeling like I got sent a bum battery and I would have to get a new one from Lenovo, but I decided to try something before I resorted to contacting them. Since I hadn’t had the laptop very long and I didn’t have much on it yet, I decided to try reverting it back to the factory state. (thinkpad software for this is pretty awesome. I’m not sure if other companies do similar things, but this impressed me) After I reverted back to factory state, windows notified me that the battery had been completely discharged and would require up to 10 hours to full recharge. It had told me this before, but it had never done any charging.I resigned myself to plug it in one more time overnight to see if I could get any sort of charge. To my delight, when I woke up the next morning and checked it, the battery had been fully recharged and it has functioned properly ever since on the factory windows install.I’ve read some stuff about peoples’ varying success with using Ubuntu on T60′s and I was wondering if anybody had ever run into this issue? Does anybody have any idea what would cause such a total failure of battery charging ability?

and i want to buy a replacement thinkpad t60 battery
